Hyperlinks & Navigation

CustomShow allows users to specify a link target on any element when editing a presentation in the Editor Console. This can be set on Text, Images, Videos, Shapes, and other objects on a slide.

These links are referred to as Hyperlinks, and can be added to any element on any slide.

Adding a Hyperlink to a slide element will allow the element to be clickable. The click causes the presentation to navigate to the link target.

To add, remove, or modify a Hyperlink, select any element on a slide in the Editor Console.

Click on the Hyperlink checkbox in the Appearance tab.

The settings here can be applied to setup navigation to other slides in the same presentation, or to external URLs.

Link to Slide

Using the Link Type: Slide option will allow viewers to click on the selected element during the presentation to navigate to the specified slides in the same presentation.

  • To Slide: Specifies the destination of the link. This list contains all slides found in the same presentation, sorted by their order.
  • Tooltip Enabled: Enabling this option will cause the Tooltip Text to display for the link.
  • Tooltip Text: Plain text label displayed when mouse hovers over the link.

Link to Slide Position

Using the Link Type: Position option will allow viewers to click on the selected element during the presentation to navigate to the destination slide relative to the currently viewed slide.

  • To Position: Specifies the destination of the link. The list displays preset options that will navigate through the presentation depending on which slide is currently viewed. The options available are as follows:
    • First Slide
    • Previous Slide
    • Next Slide
  • Tooltip Enabled: Enabling this option will cause the Tooltip Text to display for the link.
  • Tooltip Text: Plain text label displayed when mouse hovers over the link.

Link to External URL

Using the Link Type: External URL option will allow viewers to click on the selected element during the presentation to navigate to the specified slides in the same presentation.

  • To URL: Specifies the destination of the link. Any valid HTML address is accepted. Clicking on a link in a presentation that is set to an External URL will open a new window to display the destination.
    • If CustomShow is displaying content in Full Screen, the application will exit Full Screen and then open the External URL page.
    • This feature will not function when viewing content in an offline environment, on either the CustomShow iPad App or the CustomShow Desktop Viewer.
  • Tooltip Enabled: Enabling this option will cause the Tooltip Text to display for the link.
  • Tooltip Text: Plain text label displayed when mouse hovers over the link.

Library Slides and Linked Slides

When working with content in a Presentation Library, users are able to drag and drop slides from Library Presentations to create copies of the same slides in their own presentations.

If a slide from a Library Presentation contains a hyperlink, CustomShow will prompt the user with the options to either copy the linked slides' destination slides as well, or break the links intentionally.

Breaking a link will retain the clickable element, though no navigation will occur. When a link is broken, a user can attempt to Fix the broken link by clicking on the option to Fix...

CustomShow will search for the missing slide, and if it is able to locate the slide, users will receive a prompt to select the slide and re-add the content to the end of the presentation.
